The Festival

IF Durban is an annual innovation festival aimed at thought leaders, business, entrepreneurs, academia, designers, government and all innovation stakeholders to explore the latest trends in innovation from both a global and local perspective. It is an exciting 3 day programme that includes keynote speakers, panel debates, demonstrations and maker workshops.

Who is Innovate Durban?

Innovate Durban is a Non-profit Company (NPC) aimed at stimulating innovation within Durban. Its focus is to support innovators and promote innovation by creating platforms that will build and develop the innovation ecosytem in Durban.

Nashreen Hofmeester
Director for Customer Success - Microsoft South Africa. Nashreen Hofmeester is responsible for enabling our customers to innovate and realize value by accelerating adoption of our cloud solutions to transform their business. She is an accomplished leader with a demonstrated history of more than 18 years working in the computer software and services industry and is skilled in Business Strategy, Digital Transformation, Operations Management, and IT Service Management.
Quraish Behari
Quraish Behari is the CEO of Derivco – a leading software development and IT services company in the global gaming world, employing over 1500 of the brightest minds in the industry. Having started his career as a Software Developer, Quraish quite literally learnt the technology “business” from the inside out and brings a unique point of view to the boardroom table as he works to shape a culture where technologists can thrive.
Professor Mashudu Tshifularo
A Professor at University of Pretoria. Prof. Tshifularo extensive experience and expertise has led to several innovations in the field of
otorhinolaryngology. As a clinician, his ability to successfully assess the medical
needs of patients has allowed him to implement suitable treatment plans across a
wide range of ear, nose and throat conditions. In 2019, Professor Tshifularo
pioneered the ground-breaking 3D middle-ear transplant technique.
Hamish Erskine
CEO at Dube TradePort - Hamish joined Dube TradePort in 2003, and has
provided invaluable contributions to various key areas of the
development to date. These include Property Development, Sales,
and Operations; Commercial ICT and telecommunications; and Air
Services and Route Development.
Nokoane Ndazi
Head of Transformation - Software AG.
Mervyn George
Innovation Strategy Lead for Africa at SAP - Mervyn is an innovation thought leader, with a focus on building bridges between people and people, and people and tech. His research and writing is focused on exponential growth strategies, intelligent technologies and broad digital transformation.
Klariska Moodley
Head of Experimentation at United Nations Development Programme - Over the last 10 years Klariska has been involved in the areas of product development,
research and innovation, and project/product management. Since 2017 she served as Manager
for Systems Product Development at Nedbank where she played the role of product owner on
an agile digital disruption programme. The programme sought to transform how corporate
and business clients do business.
Lebo Gunguluza
CEO at GEM Group - Entrepreneur, Turnaround Strategist, Inspirational Business Speaker and Dragon Investor - known as the "The Breakthrough Entrepreneur". A true trailblazer and leader in high technology innovation and great passion for FinTech and Cyber-Security. He is a pioneer in the 4th Industrial Revolution and has made investments in various financial technology companies and digital innovations. He is a Dragon investor from Dragon's Den Africa.
Mbali Hlongwane
Founder of Pink Codrs Africa - Pink Codrs Africa is an organisation focused on developing women in Africa. Pink Codrs for the past 3years has been challenging the current shortage of female software developers in Africa by training and empowering women to take up tech skills and careers while building a strong network of Women in Tech around Africa.
